The Story of Our House
French Craftsmanship Excellence

Romuald Bertrand, passionate about couture from a young age, quickly rose through the ranks of the French fashion industry. At just 20 years old, he was already recognized as the third-best young couturier in France. Driven by his talent and determination, he founded his fashion house on September 10, 2010.

Romuald's career took a significant turn in 2013 when he received the award for the most beautiful couture creation from the Miss France organization, live on TF1. This recognition strengthened his reputation and opened new doors. The following year, he was commissioned to create the gown for Camille Cerf’s participation in Miss Universe 2015.

In 2017, Romuald Bertrand took part in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, marking an important milestone in his international career. Shortly after, he traveled to Thailand to showcase his work, further establishing his presence in the global fashion scene.

In 2021, marking a new chapter in his journey, Romuald Bertrand officially launched and trademarked L'Engrenage. He inaugurated his French couture house in Besançon, a city renowned for its precision craftsmanship and luxury heritage. L'Engrenage stands out for its unique expertise and ambition to make fashion accessible to a wider audience through various private and public events.

In 2024, Maison L'Engrenage was nominated at the 21st Luxury Summit in Paris and presented a runway show at Tangier Fashion Week. That same year, Romuald Bertrand’s craftsmanship was officially recognized with the Maître d'Art label.

Thus, L'Engrenage positions itself as a key player in fashion, blending tradition with modernity, and continues to promote the excellence of French couture..
